Singapore wants Mexico's Pork

The Mexican government announced that it has begun exporting pork to Singapore with an initial shipment of 22 tons dispatched at the end of last month.
The operation "confirms the advance in the marketing of meat products of Mexican origin with countries in Asia," Mexico's agriculture department said in a statement.
With the shipment, Singapore joins countries like South Korea, China and Japan, "whose health authorities have already recognized the health status and the levels of harmlessness they achieve with Mexican products," the communique said.
The pork was shipped on board a cargo vessel from Ensenada, Baja California.
This year, there have been several advances for the Mexican pork industry with Asian countries, including the incorporation of Jalisco to the group of Mexican states authorized to sell their products to Japan after being deemed free of classic swine fever and the authorization granted by Chinese authorities to four Mexican meat processing plants.
