Cabo San Lucas resort launches culinary program

Food of Place, a new culinary program at Esperanza Resort near Cabo San Lucas, reflects the flavors and culture of the Baja region.

A variety of classes include cooking techniques, wine and tequila tastings and dinners hosted by guest chefs.

A margarita-making class, taught by Esperanza’s head bartender, is offered daily and is free; participants in the ceviche class, offered Thursdays for $115 per person, learn how to make an indigenous chocolata clam ceviche, and those in the seafood paella class, offered free each day, work with an assortment of local seafood.

A Mexican-style clambake takes place on the resort’s private beach, priced at $135 per person; reservations are required.

Classes in the origins of tequila take place twice a week and are priced at $65 per person, including samplings.

Dinners will take place Oct. 25 and 26 and Nov. 15 and 16 at Cocina del Mar, the resort’s oceanfront restaurant.

Esperanza is a 57-room resort and spa set on bluffs that overlook two coves near Cabo.
